According to a statement by the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Mrs Domna Michailidou, σήμερα Τετάρτη 17.04.2024 The online platform for the payment of maternity allowance for nine months is expected to open for self-employed women and farmers.
Reminded that according to Law 5078/2023 - Government Gazette Issue A 211/20.12.2023, every mother who is insured in the e-EFKA and works in a fixed-term or indefinite employment relationship in businesses or farms or as a salaried lawyer (i.e., not only insured by p.IKA-ETAM, as was previously the case) is entitled to receive a special nine (9) month maternity protection leave from the D.Y.P.A., provided that she has received a grant for pregnancy and childbirth from any of the institutions, sectors, branches or accounts of the e -EFKA or other institutions for sickness insurance for employees. (Article 150)
At the same time, the same law establishes a special maternity protection benefit for self-employed, self-employed and farm workers, for a period of nine (9) months, which starts after the expiry of the maternity benefit of the e-FSF. The Public Employment Service (PES) pays beneficiaries a monthly amount equal to the minimum wage (€830.00) in force at the time.
The special maternity protection benefit for non-employed persons is also available to a presumed mother who has a child through surrogacy and to a non-employed person who adopts a child from the time the child joins the family until the age of eight (8) years. The mother shall be allowed to transfer to the father up to seven (7) months of the above special maternity protection benefit, regardless of whether the father is employed on a dependent private-law employment relationship or is a freelancer or self-employed person or farmer.
Mothers who have a child up to fourteen weeks before the end of the year 2023 and in particular up to 24/09/2023 are also entitled to the special maternity protection benefit.
