e-ΕΦΚΑ is entering a new digital era with the launch of its new Integrated Information System (IIS), a major project expected to transform pension services, social security contributions management, and overall support for insured citizens and businesses across Greece.

The new digital platform is considered one of the largest modernization projects in the Greek social security sector, aiming to reduce bureaucracy, accelerate pension processing, and improve online public services.

New e-EFKA Digital System: What Changes for Pensions and Social Security Services

Through the new Integrated Information System, e-ΕΦΚΑ will unify all insurance and pension-related data into a single digital environment. The system will support pension distribution, insurance contribution management, insured employment records, and auditing mechanisms through one centralized platform.

The main goal of the new digital infrastructure is to speed up pension issuance, improve contribution monitoring, and provide faster and more efficient services for both citizens and businesses.

Faster Pension Processing Through Automation

One of the biggest advantages of the new e-EFKA system is the acceleration of pension approvals. Automated procedures and unified data management are expected to significantly reduce waiting times for both main and supplementary pensions.

The digital transformation will also minimize administrative errors and delays that have affected thousands of insured citizens in recent years.

Major Changes for Employers and Contribution Declarations

The new platform also introduces important upgrades to the electronic Analytical Periodic Declaration (APD) system. Businesses will be able to submit employee insurance data more quickly, accurately, and efficiently.

At the same time, the new Employers Registry will reduce bureaucracy and limit the need for physical visits to e-EFKA offices.

Integration with AADE and GEMI

The new e-EFKA digital system will be directly connected with the Independent Authority for Public Revenue and the General Commercial Registry, enabling better data exchange and improved monitoring of social security obligations.

This interoperability is expected to strengthen transparency, improve contribution tracking, and help combat contribution evasion.

Part of Greece’s Digital Transformation Strategy

The project is part of the broader digital transformation strategy of the Greek state and is being implemented under the Greece 2.0 recovery plan, funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.

With this new digital infrastructure, e-EFKA aims to create a faster, more transparent, and more efficient social security system focused on better services for insured citizens, employers, and businesses.

What the New e-EFKA System Means for Citizens and Businesses

The implementation of the new digital platform is expected to bring major improvements, including:

  • Faster pension approvals
  • Better management of social security contributions
  • Reduced bureaucracy
  • Improved online services
  • Better service for employers and insured citizens

The new e-EFKA Integrated Information System marks a significant step toward a fully digital and modern social security framework in Greece.
